Ice Chewers Bulletin Board - All about Chewing Ice

I'm wondering if there are any men out there that chew ice? Are there?

Here is my story...I am a woman, that chewed ice ALL the time! I mean ALL the time for years! I had thought that I was low on Iron and I would take an iron pill here and there. However I thought that my desire to chew ice had nothing to do with iron deficiency. Then I went to the doctor, had a blood test, and I had very very low iron. The doctor gave me pills to take for one month... within 5 days of taking the iron pills, i had absolutely no craving for ice with a bit of drink in it. Now, I can sit at my laptop working from home, and have a drink with ice in front of me, and I have no desire to touch it. Actually the drink just sits there and the ice melts.
Luckily my teeth are still o.k., I was starting to see some cracks in my teeth, however it's fine now.
All I can say for you ice chewers....go to your doctor and get your blood check!

I wonder if this is just a woman thing... are there any men ice chewers out there?

I am a man and an ice chewer. I have been an ice chewer for almost 4 years.

I started again yesterday when I found this forum, I am a male. So add 1 more to the total count. I don't remember why I stopped a few years back... Maybe because our auto-defrost freezer makes the ice taste awful... But luckily we still have our old Kelvinator.
